Plug-and-play batteries work by charging during the cheap overnight period and reducing electricity bought during higher-cost daytime periods.
Standing charges (e.g. ~57.99p/day on Intelligent Octopus Go) are excluded from savings, payback and ROI — batteries cannot reduce them.
